Pronoun Reference in Mustafa Jamal-Aldeen’s Poetry

Abstract

Reference is considered one of the coherent means that, of all kinds, contribute to the cohesion and coherence of poetic texts, and this is accomplished by linguistic aspects like pronouns since they are implicit expressions that need a reference before or after to clarify them. The paper studies the vertical correlation of pronouns in the poet’s texts (Mustafa Jamal-Aldeen) in parallel with a hypothesis which adopts an idea that verses reproduce and grow vertically in the traditional poem. Thus, the spread of these pronouns in the poem verses is a means to join them to each other.
