The University’s Role in Community Service
Abstract
Community service is one of the most important functions of the university at the present time due to its importance in developing the ability to participate and contribute to building society, solving its problems, and linking scientific research with the needs of the production and services sectors.
The current research aimed at identifying the university’s role in community service, and to achieve the research goal, the researcher conducted the research on a sample of (100) members of the faculty in the College of Basic Education. Our research is descriptive and analytical research that requires more than one approach to obtain data and information. Required for this, the researcher used the social survey approach and the statistical approach, and adopted the data collection tool (questionnaire and interview) for the purpose of obtaining a number of statistical means:
- There are no statistically significant differences between cognitive growth and the university’s role in community service.
- There are statistically significant differences between societal progress and the university’s role in community service.
- There are no statistically significant differences between economic growth and the university’s role in community service.
- There are no statistically significant differences between preparing young people for the labor market and the university’s role in community service.
Accordingly, some recommendations were reached, the most important of which can be mentioned (activating the partnership between universities, private sector institutions, and productive institutions, and working on proposing specific solutions suitable for all economic and social problems facing society.
