The Effect of Lee's Strategy on the Achievement of Second-Grade Middle School Students in Science and the Development of their Scientific Sense
Abstract
The aim of the current research is to investigate the effect of Lee’s strategy in the achievement of the second-grade intermediate students in the subject of science and the development of their scientific sense. To ensure the achievement of the research goal, three null hypotheses were formulated. The experimental curriculum with two equal groups, the post-achievement test, and the pre and post tests for scientific sense were chosen. The research experiment was applied in the first semester of the academic year (2019-2020). The research sample consisted of (61) female students, consisting of (31) female students for the experimental group and (30) female students for the control group, who were randomly selected. The two research groups were rewarded with the following variables (the chronological age of the students, calculated in months, intelligence, science grades for the previous year, scientific sense, and parents' academic achievement level). The researcher prepared behavioral objectives for the scientific subject, which in its final form consisted of (156) behavioral objectives, and in light of these objectives, the teaching plan was prepared after verifying its validity by presenting it to a group of experts and arbitrators. The researcher prepared the achievement test, which consisted of (30) objective paragraphs of the multiple-choice type. Its validity and psychometric properties (the coefficient of ease and difficulty of its paragraphs, the discriminatory power and the effectiveness of wrong alternatives) were verified, and the stability of its paragraphs was found by adopting the alpha-Cronbach equation, which amounted to (0.93). A measure of scientific sense has also been prepared, consisting of two domains (cognitive including 25 items, emotional including 20 items) and three alternatives were placed in front of each item (it applies to me to a large extent, applies to me to a moderate degree, does not apply to me) and after processing the data statistically and using the statistical package showed The results of the research: There is a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group students who study according to Lee’s strategy and the scores of the control group students who study according to the usual method in the achievement test in science and in scientific sense and in favor of the average of the experimental group. D between the mean scores of the experimental group, tribal and dimensional in the scientific sense scale and in favor of the post test. Based on these results, the researcher developed a set of conclusions and recommendations and also suggested conducting a study A suffix to complete the search.
