The Role of Health Resort Design in enhancing the Life Quality of Diabetic Patients

Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify the main needs of diabetics in health spas and to develop some suggestions and recommendations for the design of a health spa for diabetics. The main problem lies in answering the following question: What is the role of interior design in health spas for addressing the needs of diabetics? The study was based on the descriptive analytical approach. The study was applied to a purposive sample of (361) individuals with diabetes. In order to achieve the objectives of the study and draw conclusions, the researchers prepared the following tools: a form that includes general information on diabetics, information on the medical history, and respondents’ views on design options for diabetic health spas. The main findings were that 95% of the respondents supported the establishment of health spas in Saudi Arabia for diabetics, that it was necessary to provide health spas in order to improve and enhance the quality of life of diabetics, and that health and nutritional problems are the ones most suffered by diabetics. The researchers recommended inviting the competent authorities to pay attention to the health of diabetics by providing them with therapeutic environments, strengthening the role of designers in creating an appropriate environment for diabetics in health spas, and emphasizing the importance of joint work between the competent authorities and designers to improve the quality of interior design in health spas.
