Applying the Bergsma Model to Calculate Gully Erosion in the Wadi Al-Rahba Basin using Geographic Information Systems for the East Governorate of Misan

Abstract

Soil loss is a major cause of land degradation around the world, especially in large areas of arid and semi-arid regions, and its great importance in geomorphological studies The objectives of the study were to estimate the volume of erosion and soil erosion using the Bergsma coefficient as well as to employ GIS techniques to extract the values and volumes of gully erosion in the Wadi Basin. Al-Rahba, as it became clear through the analysis that erosion in this basin ranges from very severe to mild to moderate, as it ranged between 750-1400 m/km2 in the basin.
