The Vocal Intonation of the Interrogative Reflexive in Ahmed Shawqi's Play "The Miser"

Abstract

This research aimed to study the functional role played by the intonation phenomenon in the linguistic context by benefiting from the phonological analysis of the models of the Echo interrogative, and clarifying its linguistic semantic value and revealing the role that it has in the communication process between the speaker and the listener, as this type of interrogation adds emotional meanings related to the emotional function of the intonation form. Because the theatrical text is designed as a linguistic text that relies on vocal performance through dialogue between the theatrical characters, the emotional connotations and tone of the text are clearly evident in it, according to the intonation-based performance methods. This is what the researcher sought to uncover through a study of the vocal intonation of the interrogative Echo in a poetic theatrical text, namely the play "Al-Bakhila" by Ahmed Shawqi.

 The research is divided into two sections: the first, titled "Theoretical Concepts of the Intonation and the Echo Interrogatives," and the second, titled "The Intonal Form of the Echo Interrogatives in the Play "Al -Bakhila."
