Abstract

The study aimed to propose and evaluate an intelligent knowledge assistant for answering questions related to the regulations of King Saud University students. The study employed the descriptive–documentary method for the theoretical framework and the systems analysis and design method for the practical framework. The study reached several findings, the most important of which is that using and customizing the GPT-5.1 using “Thinking” mode in intelligent knowledge assistants dedicated to regulations—such as academic regulations—is a highly appropriate and effective solution for generating long and in-depth answers. However, when short and concise answers are required, the “Instant” mode of the same model cannot yet be used, as it is still incomplete; therefore, the GPT-5 model using “Instant” mode is the appropriate and effective solution for this purpose. The study recommended benefiting from customized GPT models to facilitate and accelerate task performance across all domains, particularly academic fields, and conducting further studies on the development and evaluation of intelligent assistants that support various domains, especially the academic domain.
