The Relationship between Body Image Perception and Narcissistic Personality Disorder among High School Students in the City of Soran

Abstract
The present study, titled "Narcissism and its Relationship with Body Image Perception," was conducted to investigate the correlation between narcissism and body image among adolescents. It also aimed to measure the levels of both variables based on gender, age, and socioeconomic status. The study population consisted of high school students in the Soran Independent Administration, with a sample of (300) students (159 males and 141 females) selected through random sampling. A descriptive research methodology was employed, utilizing two standardized scales for narcissism and body image perception. Following statistical analysis using SPSS, the results indicated that the overall level of narcissism among students is high, with a significant difference favoring females. Regarding body image, the results showed that students possess a high and positive perception of their bodies, with scores significantly increasing in the 11th and 12th grades compared to the 10th grade. Importantly, the study found no statistically significant correlation between narcissism and body image perception (r = 0.015, p = 0.795). The study concludes with several recommendations, emphasizing the importance of promoting psychological awareness regarding adolescent development in educational settings.
