Abstract

This paper examines the diverse factors that contributed to the West’s rise and its eventual dominance over the world. It presents a critical analysis of the relationship between Western culture, power, and intellectual control. The research explores key questions: How did psychological factors shape the West’s ascent? What role did expansionist colonialism play in its superiority and hegemony? And how did Western centrality reinforce this dominance? Through inductive, analytical, and critical approaches, the study investigates philosophical and historical texts to understand how various factors interacted to construct the Western civilizational project. It argues that the psychological dimension -embodied in the West’s sense of cultural and civilizational superiority - provided a strong motive for domination and justified colonial expansion, leading to the exploitation of human and natural resources in colonized lands. This process strengthened the West’s economic and military power while promoting its worldview as the universal model of progress and modernity. Ultimately, the research concludes that the West’s rise emerged from an epistemic synthesis between contemplation and action, grounded in a materialist vision of the world and a dynamic system of values that shaped its integrated civilizational project.
