A Comparative Study on Self-Esteem among Secondary School Students in the Northern Governorates of the West Bank in Palestine

Abstract

The study sought to identify differences in the level of self-esteem according to the variables of gender and branch among secondary school students in Palestine, The study used the descriptive analytical method, and the self-esteem scale (by Cooper Smith) was used. The study was conducted on a sample of (740) male and female students who were selected randomly. The study found differences in self-esteem between males and females and in favor of males. The results also indicated that there were differences between (scientific) and (agricultural) and in favor of (scientific) and between (literary) and (industrial, agricultural and commercial) and in favor of (literary).It was between (literary) and (agricultural) and in favor of (literary).Based on the results of the study, the researchers presented a number of important recommendations, including the necessity of providing a psychological and educational support environment for females to enhance self-esteem, especially in the general, social, and professional aspects., and preparing guidance programs that focus on enhancing girls’ self-confidence.Through workshops and seminars that support the development of their skills, we work to explain the importance of vocational education to students in agricultural, industrial and commercial branches, which contributes to improving their self-esteem.
